One thing every married couple has to figure out is how to spend the holidays. Before our marriage, we were counseled by everyone about this, including our Stake President when he interviewed us. He told us that we were creating our own family unit and that we needed to establish our own traditions. And figure out how to appease our families! OK, so he didn't say appease, but he let us know that both families would want our time. We did pretty well over Thanksgiving, I thought. I didn't make any enemies with the in-laws!
We went to dinner with my family because I haven't had Thanksgiving dinner there for eight years. All my family was there with the exception of my brother and sister-in-law in California. I forgot how good traditional Thanksgiving dinner is. Last year I ate dinner at Epcot Center at Disneyworld in the village of Germany. Schnizel was good, but turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy was better!
We spent the rest of the weekend with Troy's family, which was a lot of fun. I even went shopping on Black Friday--a new experience as a Koon!
