The first weekend in May Troy and I went to a Real Salt Lake soccer game. Kat's blog reminded me that I forgot to post about all the excitement from that game. Real played LA Galaxy, and the true excitement of soccer was that it ended in a tie! It was extremely anti-climactic.
But the game was still really fun. I'm posting a picture of the most exciting part of the game--soccer fans already know that David Beckham plays for LA Galaxy. He's too old to play in European soccer leagues, but here in the US (where soccer is slower) he keeps up just fine. Fine enough that he scored both of LA's goals unassisted. My favorite part of the game (Troy had to keep reminding me to only cheer for Real) was during the first half. They left Beckham open at the 30 yard line off to the right side of the field. He had what seemed forever to set up his shot. The next thing I knew, he'd kicked the ball and it flew into the left corner of the goal. I now understand the true meaning of bend it like Beckham (a really good show too). Fun stuff.

I took these pictures during the warm-up. We happened to be sitting on the fifth row west side right by where LA was warming up. People were going crazy for Becks.

He took his shirt off after the game. I was embarrassed to be a part of the crowd then. They were going crazy the entire game, but this tipped the scale. One guy yelled during warm-up that he is naming his son James Beckham when the kid is born in July. Because, "when he met Beckham at the Gateway he was so genuine and kind." I just don't make this stuff up.
