For a couple of weeks I've been really tired, headachy and had a dry cough. It's what everyone is passing around, right? That's what I thought. Wednesday night I had severe pain under my left lung that radiated up to my shoulder. After much coercing from my husband and father I came into the emergency room. They ran three hours of tests and finally admitted me to the hospital. The diagnosis: multiple blood clots in my lungs. Not what I expected to hear or even what the doctor expected to find. I've been really healthy throughout my life, and all my other tests came back with really good numbers. I'm a healthy 30-yr old with blood clots in my lungs.
Now that I'm being forced to sit still I realize how tired I am. With my diagnosis they won't let me do anything but go to the bathroom and lay back down. I'm still too tired to be bored and I've been so lucky to have lots of good company. I'm waiting for my INR (?) to be between 2-3 before they'll let me go home and right now I'm at 1.2. I can't remember what that stands for but it has to do with the blood thinners they're giving me. I'll have to take Coumadin for the next 6 months minimum.
I am feeling better, but today I'm having a little trouble breathing. I'm OK, though. I'm using the oxygen and they have me hooked up to this portable thing that takes my vitals.
I feel really comforted. I don't think I realize how sick I am. It's a good thing other people keep telling me what to do. And thanks for all your love and prayers and cards and flowers and visits.

We're just so grateful you're ok. And you will continue to be in our prayers and thoughts. Oh yeah, and try not to get sick of us cause I am sure we'll be there everyday until you come home. We love you!
Hey. Thanks for letting us know about this. I wouldn't have known otherwise. I'd come and visit you, but I'm in NYC til Wednesday. Take care of yourself.
Hey Emily, I linked to your blog from April's. I'm sorry to hear about the blood clots. That sounds horrible. I'm glad to read that you are feeling much better. Just want you to know I wish you well. --Michele
