Our New Neighborhood

We've been in our house for three weeks and we're loving it! I just had to say it and I'm sorry if I keep gushing on and on about home ownership. We have lots of projects to do, but it's satisfying for me being out of an apartment after 13 years of apartment living.

So, I was a little nervous about our neighborhood at first because we never saw any of the neighbors. Tonight, at the first glimpse of good weather, people were out all over - walking dogs, chatting, kids playing. It was great! We'll have to remember to check behind us before backing out of our garage because evidently our driveway is a good ramp for the rollerbladers. We were hoping to move into a neighborhood with kids and we achieved that goal. We were told today that there are about 50 kids in the neighborhood. I was laughing at church today because most women have a kid on their hip and there are lots of pregnant women. My friends and family will have to be plenty excited for us when we become pregnant (we are not) because it's status quo for this neighborhood!

We have been struggling with our basement a little because it's been difficult to get furniture down here. We ordered this great couch (so comfortable), but it wouldn't make it through the doorway because it was too long. We learned the hard way that the only thing that could fit through the doorway is a sectional. I thought a couch was out for now (I'm cheap), but after three weeks watching TV on my dad's love sac (he so kindly let us "borrow" it, but I don't think he's letting us give it back) we decided that we must have a couch. Lucky for us, the local furniture store is having a sale this week. So, I broke down and let Troy buy his couch. Happily, Troy was right - having a couch makes the basement feel a lot more comfortable now. :) It makes me love the house even more. I'm back to gushing, so it must be time for me to end this post.

Emily!! Tyler and I are sooo very excited for you!! We can't wait to come out and have a tour!! We also bought a nice, soft couch for our basement, but it didn't fit down the stairs, so we too had to return it and settle for a sectional. But it all worked out okay...as it seems to have with you!! Good luck with your projects, as home owners they are never ending :) Hope everything else in your life is great!

WOW! Look at that big party basement. It's all finished and everything. You are lucky! Sorry the couch ordeal was a pain, but the end result looks great.
