As I look back over the last couple of weeks, work things pop into my head first. Oops, that balancing problem I'm been facing lately is obviously still there. Work has been the focus of my priorities. I've been trying to work on this life balance thing, but it's a daily struggle for me. Every night I come home from work and have to remind myself to compartmentalize and just relax and enjoy being home. (Don't worry - I don't neglect my husband, just my sanity.)
To help me with this task of being in the moment when I'm home - we've decided to get a puppy. :) No, I am not typically a dog person, but my husband is. And ever since we moved into a house I have thought more and more about buying a dog. We gave it a trial run the weekend of March 21st and dog sat for my sister's cute dogs Hans & Greta. Here's a pic of Hans that I stole from Mike's Facebook page (this blog is going to be really long if I don't add a few pics):

Introducing......our puppy! He's super cute and will grow up to look like Hans, except our puppy is all black with a little silver on him (and we are not docking his ears). We're picking him up at the end of the month. We have already named him Garren (German for Guardian - a German dog needs a German name). He's a miniature schnauzer and so cute!

Also, to help balance my life I have been asked to serve as education counselor in the Relief Society Presidency (my church's organization for women). I was completely shocked when they asked me but I told them I was willing and overwhelmed and so far it's been fine. I missed the first Sunday in this new calling because I got called out on an emergency fire alarm and got to meet the fire department at a building I manage instead. Sigh...work just creeps in.
What else? I'm getting tired, so I'll recap quickly - Thursday, April 2 we celebrated my Grandma's 85th Birthday. I wish that I had blogged at the time to say how wonderful she is to me! They put together a little program that involved some stories and music. I played for my mom and her sisters to sing a medley of songs my grandma performed back when I was little (I've forgotten why - to raise money for something). Music is a big part of my Grandma's life and she still has amazing vocal skills. She sang for us and it reminded me of all the times I've sat and listened to her. And her testimony - made me tear up. I love this great lady.
Rob & Nicole were in town that weekend for Conference with her family, so they came to dinner on Sunday at my parent's. It was a lot of fun to see them and meet Nicole's family again (I haven't really seen her family since their wedding two years ago). Meri & Nate are leaving soon for NYC for the summer and then from there who knows, so it was fun to see everyone. And did I mention Nicole & Rob are having a baby GIRL!
We had the opportunity to speak in church on Easter Sunday. Both Troy and I felt inspired to speak about the Atonement. One thing that kept coming to me is that the Plan of Happiness centers on the Atonement and Jesus Christ. I am truly grateful for my Savior.
And that brings us to the present...we went to visit Troy's sweet Grandma in the hospital tonight. When we saw her on Sunday night she was not doing well. It was good to see her feeling much better today. She's heading for a rehab center tomorrow to help her get moving around. She's glad to be leaving the hospital.
So, I don't have much else to say except thanks if you're still reading! You must really love me. It has been a good month.

We are going to be new puppy owners together! We had been going back and forth about it and finally decided to do it. Our new Cocker Spaniel should be coming into the world in the next week or so. And then we will have to wait 8-10 weeks until he is weened. So fun! We should have doggie play dates!
Always fun to hear an update on you guys! What a cute puppie! Good Luck!!!
Yayy! Finally, a new post! I still can't believe you guys are getting a dog. And I hear Kat and Jon are now, as well? Rob and I will soon be the only ones in the family without a dog (at least without an indoor dog, and probably without an outdoor one for many years to come!).
